Since 2019 Prof. Dr. Julia Arlinghaus holds the chair for production systems and automation at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and at the same time heads the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF in Magdeburg.
Her research focuses on the design and management of digital production systems, the design and implementation of factory automation systems and the planning of digital transformation processes for industry.
Prof. Dr. Julia Arlinghaus studied industrial engineering with a focus on production technology and process engineering at the University of Bremen and Tokyo University, Japan. She received her doctorate in 2011 with a focus on business innovation for the integration of intermodal transport in retail supply chains at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. She worked as a consultant for operational excellence and lean management at Porsche Consulting until, in 2013, she accepted the call to professor for the optimization of production and logistics networks at Jacobs University Bremen. From 2017 to 2019 she held the chair for Management for Industry 4.0 at RWTH Aachen University.
In February 2021, Professor Arlinghaus was appointed to the German Science Council.
