Top or flop? Algorithm calculates the chances of success for new films
The start-up Cinelytic claims to be able to predict in advance of a film release which film will be among the winners or losers at the box office – with the help of artificial intelligence. The algorithm developed by the company draws on information from over 90,000 films and 550,000 people involved in the strip – from actors and directors to scriptwriters. From this he derives the financially most successful genres, actors and topics. The big US film studios are interested in the possibilities that machine learning could open up for future blockbusters of success. Warner Brothers signed a contract with Cinelytic in January 2020.
