Prof. Dr. Ulrich HP Fischer

Ulrich HP Fischer is professor of communication technology at the Harz University of Applied Sciences and managing director of HarzOptics GmbH based in Wernigerode. He teaches and researches in the field of optical communication – data transmission using light. As a member of the digitization advisory board, he accompanies the digital agenda of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The physicist focused his research on the technology of photonic packaging, for which he completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Dresden. Since 2011 he has been researching state and nationwide projects in the field of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), the self-determined life using technical assistance systems. The aim is to enable older people to live independently in their home environment for as long as possible with the help of intelligent technology.
